Vego Garden Continues Its Quest for Community Empowerment

Houston, TX, September 28th, 2023 – As one of the most innovative companies in the gardening industry, Vego Garden continues to harness the power of gardening to empower and heal communities in need. With our firm conviction in the therapeutic power of gardening, we have continued to serve local communities through our  Giving Back Program - achieving encouraging progress in recent months with more influential partners. 

Joining hands with renowned partners to further meaningful causes in local communities, we have continued to support social aid and education efforts with garden bed donations, especially to organizations that serve underprivileged individuals. 

In the month of September, the Giving Back Program once again achieved notable results with donations to 13 organizations, surpassing that of August - including partnerships with charitable organizations; NGOs; schools; churches; and hospitals. The program has since made donations to a total of 44 prominent local organizations since May. 

Lending Further Support 

Since its inception, our program has gained a solid track record with an increasing number of well-known partner organizations, and this is no exception in September - as we lent valuable support to further the efforts of well-known social aid and empowerment groups. 

A key partner that has already bought our garden beds previously - the Superior School District consisting of the school district board and administration for Superior, Montana, received 4 new garden bed donations from us after giving enthusiastic feedback on their purchases. They will provide extended garden space and opportunities for students to learn about nature right next to their classrooms, as an addition to their school garden project that also featured Vego Garden beds. 

Another previous partner that joined hands with us is the Food Mill, a branch of UGROW, Inc based in Columbus, Georgia. As a well-known food farmacy, the organization aims to eliminate barriers and solve food insecurity issues in the Columbus community, with a specific focus on the North Highlands community, which accounts for one of the highest rates of nutrition insecurity in Columbus. 

In support of its Farm to School Program serving 8 schools in the county to offer students hands-on gardening education, we donated 5 6-in-1 modular raised garden bed kits, which will be used at a school without an established garden space. Students will plant, care for and harvest produce through classes on nutrition and urban agriculture.

We also lent support to Troop 530, a scout organization with the goal to empower every eligible youth to become responsible and participating citizens, with the integrity and character to be tomorrow's leaders.

Through the Giving Back Program, we contributed with donations to the group’s Eagle Project - a program designed to help refurbish a community garden in Tigard, Oregon, whereby 75 students from a nearby secular school will benefit from gardening classes using our garden beds. 

In a display of genuine enthusiasm, members of the group arrived at Vego Garden's exhibition at the Oregon Convention Center to receive the donations in person. 

Empowering Communities in Different Ways 

Our efforts through the program have continued to grow in influence as we collaborate with more established community partners, with donations made to an increasing number of meaningful projects in different sectors. 

The latest school to benefit from our donations is Rock Spings Elementary School located in California. Our donations to the school consist of 3 garden beds and an arched trellis system, which will be part of a new sensory garden to help both general and special education students learn about nature through sensory and educational experiences. 

Working Food, a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization that works to cultivate a sustainable local food community in North Central Florida, runs a youth garden at the Wilhelmina Johnson Center - where they organize hands-on science activities for students in the garden, with organic meals made from the garden’s produce as well. Our donations will help improve this space, and for a new garden to be installed at the South West Advocacy Group's Family Resource Center, to be used for youth after school and daytime senior citizen programs. 

Finally, we donated garden beds to be used in a community garden to be built in Charleston County by Trident United Way, a key non-profit organization in South Carolina focused on community transformation in the realms of education, financial stability and health. Charleston County is a high-need neighborhood where the community is coming together to plan the construction of the garden.
