Growing Together with Community Partners

Houston, TX, October 31st, 2023 – As a renowned leader of innovation in the gardening industry, Vego Garden believes in the healing power of gardening and continues its quest to empower and heal those in need. With our strong conviction, we continue to serve local communities with our Giving Back Program - growing together with them and partnering with more charitable community partners. 

Through continuing partnerships and collaborations on community projects, we have continued to support social, education, and government efforts with garden bed donations, especially with partners serving the needs of disadvantaged groups and individuals. 

For the month of October, Vego Garden’s Giving Back Program once again achieved impressive progress, with donations to 14 organizations - including partnerships with charitable organizations; NGOs; schools; churches; hospitals and government bodies. The program has since made donations to a total of 58 prominent community groups since May. 

Growing with New Partnerships 

Since the beginning, the Giving Back Program has gained momentum with a strong track record and increasing numbers of influential partners in local communities. In October, we once again lent support to well-known groups that serve the needs of the underprivileged. 

A new partner that benefited from our garden beds donations is the Orange Christian Services Food Bank. Based in Texas, this local organization works to bring the community together to grow, harvest, and share fresh fruits and vegetables to help alleviate food insecurity. They received 2 new garden bed donations from us to create a pollinator garden for their citrus orchard.

We supported the work of the Wylde Center, founded in 1997 to facilitate the need to provide youths and families opportunities to experience nature in an urban environment - offering  environmental education programs and green spaces for development of skills in organic gardening and sustainable lifestyles. 

Our donations include 2 11" Tall 9 In 1 Modular Metal Raised Garden Bed Kit, an in-ground worm bin, and a trellis - to be used at one of their 17 partner schools throughout Metro Atlanta. Putting these new tools to good use, Wylde Center educators now provide hands-on environmental science, gardening, and food education for youths between the ages of 2 and 18. 

We lend support to JARC Florida, a social aid organization providing programs and services to educate and empower individuals with disabilities. They aim to help those with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach independence, and to reach their full potential in life.

Members of the group attended Vego Garden's offline exhibition in Orlando on September 21st, and picked up all our donated products. They will use the newly acquired garden beds to grow food for low-income individuals with autism and related disabilities.

We also supported the efforts of the Outreach United Resource Center, a nonprofit organization serving the St. Vrain Valley along Colorado's Front Range. Tasked with the mission to help people achieve self-sufficiency, one of their largest services is their food program -  comprising a community cafe offering free breakfasts and lunches, and a community market providing take-home groceries to support disadvantaged families and individuals. 

Vego’s garden beds are used to replace their existing 12-inch wooden beds, which have become worn and splintered from years of use. The increased height of our beds will enable the use of the Hugelkultur method, a regenerative gardening method for building and replenishing seedbeds. These taller beds will make it easier for the center’s elderly volunteers to plant and manage produce. 

Empowering Growth in Different Sectors 

Our continued efforts to empower communities have continued to grow, as we join hands with more partners in various realms including schools, NGOs, and government agencies, supporting new and meaningful projects in various sectors. 

Fairfax, Virginia-based W.T. Woodson High School  is the latest school to benefit from our garden bed donations. The public high school ranks annually among the top schools in Fairfax County, with the highest numbers of national merit scholars.
As part of the "Woodson High School Courtyard Appeal Restoration Project”, the donated beds will be used to build a new garden area - with the aim to motivate students and staff to spend more time outdoors and appreciate nature.

Vego Garden donated 5 17" Tall 6 in 1 Modular Metal Raised Garden Beds to Health in the Hood, a non-profit organization with the goal to connect communities to wellness. The NGO manages a network of nine urban farms, distributing over 8,000 lbs of free local produce to families in need. 

In partnership with Nicklaus Children's Hospital, our garden beds will be used to build a garden at their children's hospital - with the harvested produce to be used in their cafe and educational courses.

Finally, we donated 6 Self-Watering Rolling Planters and 4 Self Watering Rolling Garden Beds to the Oxnard Public Library in Oxnard, California. A new space in the library with a dedicated garden area will be built with Vego Garden beds, to foster public education on food security and interactive life skills. 

Standing Together with Communities 

With the firm belief in the therapeutic power of gardening and its ability to heal - Vego Garden’s Giving Back Program continues to grow with the communities that we support, and as our pledge to give back in meaningful ways. This tireless dedication to empowering communities and social responsibility has contributed to its ongoing success.
